This development at 2 Friars Lane in the Barbican, Plymouth entails the careful demolition of an existing Victorian Smoke House, to be replaced with a new development of 15 luxury apartments with associated parking and individual storage facilities. The site is in a Conservation Area and is of both archaeological and historical interest to Plymouth City Council. The development will include the preservation of an existing chapel wall and subfloor catacombs. Careful consideration has been given to the design and massing of the building in order to complement the vernacular and scale of the historic streetscape. Completion due in April 2006.
